SNAP8: published research

Also known as Acetyl octapeptide-3

An eight-amino-acid cosmetic peptide that resembles part of SNAP-25, a protein nerve endings need to release signals to muscle. It is studied in skin-care formulas for its effect on expression lines.

What is still unknown

Published human studies are small and short, and test it mixed with other ingredients.

Studies in people

2
  1. Human trial

In 24 healthy adults over 28 days, an eye-area patch containing acetyl octapeptide-3 with other actives improved wrinkles and elasticity; effects cannot be attributed to SNAP-8 alone.

  2. Human trial

In a 12-week single-centre study in adults, a multi-ingredient microneedle patch including acetyl octapeptide-3 (SNAP-8) reduced fine lines and improved hydration; effects cannot be attributed to SNAP-8 alone.
