Published research

  1. Human trial

In eight children aged 6–9 years with partial GH insufficiency, continuous subcutaneous infusion of GHRH(1-29)NH2 (sermorelin) increased GH secretion and growth velocity after 3 and 6 months; no control group was reported.

Brain C, et al. Use of continuous subcutaneous growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH (1-29)NH2) infusions to augment growth hormone secretion and to promote growth. Acta Paediatrica Scandinavica. Supplement. 1989. PMID 2546369

  2. Human trial

In an open-label multicentre study of 110 prepubertal children with GH deficiency, GHRH(1-29) (sermorelin) increased growth rate over one year and was well tolerated.

Thorner M, et al. Once daily subcutaneous growth hormone-releasing hormone therapy accelerates growth in growth hormone-deficient children during the first year of therapy. Geref International Study Group. The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. 1996. PMID 8772599

  3. Human trial

In healthy older men, 14 days of GHRH(1-29) injections raised 24-hour GH and IGF-I levels to values no different from those of young men.

Corpas E, et al. Growth hormone (GH)-releasing hormone-(1-29) twice daily reverses the decreased GH and insulin-like growth factor-I levels in old men. The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. 1992. PMID 1379256

  4. Review

Review of sermorelin for diagnosing and treating GH deficiency in children, reporting sustained gains in growth rate and good tolerability based on limited data.

Prakash A, et al. Sermorelin: a review of its use in the diagnosis and treatment of children with idiopathic growth hormone deficiency. BioDrugs. 1999. PMID 18031173
