Published research

  1. Human trial

In six middle-aged people with chronic insomnia, synthetic DSIP was followed by longer, better-quality sleep with fewer interruptions, without daytime sedation.

Schneider-Helmert D, et al. The influence of synthetic DSIP (delta-sleep-inducing-peptide) on disturbed human sleep. Experientia. 1981. PMID 7028502

  2. Animal study

In cats, a single dose of synthetic DSIP shortened the time to fall asleep and increased total sleep, mainly deep slow-wave sleep, for about 7 hours.

Susić V, et al. The effects of delta-sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP) on wakefulness and sleep patterns in the cat. Brain Research. 1987. PMID 3620931

  3. Review

Review describing DSIP as a nine-amino-acid peptide that mainly induced deep (delta) sleep in rabbits, rats, mice and humans, and that occurs naturally in the brain and blood.

Graf MV, et al. Delta-sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP): a review. Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews. 1984. PMID 6145137
